The company has tightened attendance rules, revised personal emergency day policies, and placed restrictions on backend processes, as per recent media reports.

TCS Implements New Work Policy – Key Changes

Personal Emergency Days

  • Employees can now take up to six personal emergency days per quarter.
  • Any unused emergency days can be carried forward to the next quarter.

Exceptional Entries

  • Employees can submit up to 30 exceptions in a single entry due to space constraints.
  • Network-related issues can be cited for up to five entries at once.
  • Any exceptional requests not processed within 10 days will be automatically rejected.

Backdated WFO Entries

  • Employees can submit backdated work-from-office entries up to two days prior to the current date.
  • Missing WFO entries for the current month must be submitted by the 5th of the following month.

Strict Ban on Bulk Uploads

  • Bulk uploads and backend data entry have been completely banned, ensuring strict compliance with the new attendance policy.

Mandatory Five-Day Office Attendance

Unlike many Indian IT firms that allow hybrid work models with two to three office days per week, TCS mandates a full five-day office attendance policy. However, the company has hinted that this policy may be reviewed in the futureonce stability is achieved.

Emphasis on Workplace Positivity

TCS’s HR Head, Milind Lakkad, has encouraged leaders to cultivate a positive and engaging work environment. In a message to managers, he stated:

“I urge every leader to promote a positive and happy workplace where everyone looks forward to working and collaborating with others.”

Additionally, following TCS’s latest financial results, Lakkad announced updates to the variable pay structure:

  • Entry-level employees will receive full variable pay.
  • Mid and senior-level employees’ variable pay will be performance-based.

With these new changes, TCS is reinforcing its commitment to employee discipline, workplace engagement, and business performance.
